Safeguarding statement

At Daniel Nutrition Ltd, safeguarding is one of our highest priorities. We are fully committed to protecting the wellbeing, dignity, and safety of all individuals who access our services - especially those who may be more vulnerable, including young people or adults with additional needs.

Safeguarding means protecting people from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. We take a zero-tolerance approach to any form of abuse or discrimination and act professionally, ethically, and promptly when concerns arise.

Our Commitment

  • Services are delivered in safe, secure environments (online or in-person)

  • Professional boundaries are strictly maintained at all times

  • The service lead, Daniel Essom, is safeguarding trained (Level 2 - adults and children) with annual refresher training

  • Enhanced DBS clearance is held by all client-facing professionals

  • All safeguarding concerns are taken seriously and escalated appropriately

Why We Request GP and Address Information

Before beginning the programme, all clients must complete an onboarding form via Microsoft Forms. This includes:

  • The name and address of your registered GP

  • Your current home address

  • Confirmation of your consent to our safeguarding and risk policies

We require this information in order to:

  • Contact your GP if a safeguarding or clinical concern arises

  • Coordinate care with other professionals if needed

  • Ensure emergency services can reach you in the event of a crisis

This information is collected and stored securely and used only with your explicit consent and in line with our duty of care.

Mental Health and Disordered Eating Awareness

Due to the focus on behaviour change, nutrition, and weight, we are especially vigilant for signs of disordered eating, coercive control, or emotional distress and carry out a disordered eating screening during onboarding. If safeguarding concerns emerge, we will offer support and signpost or refer to appropriate services with your consent or in line with our duty of care.

Acting on Concerns

Where a risk to safety is identified, we may - with appropriate consent - contact:

  • Your GP

  • Local authority safeguarding teams

  • Emergency services

All safeguarding concerns are handled with professionalism, confidentiality, and care. Only those who need to know will be informed.

Zero Tolerance

We do not tolerate abuse, harassment, or discrimination in any form. If a client behaves in a way that endangers staff or others, the working relationship may be reviewed and potentially terminated in line with safeguarding responsibilities.

Policy and Review

This public statement reflects our internal safeguarding policy (which is kept private and therefore not publically listed), which is reviewed annually or following:

  • Any serious safeguarding incident

  • Changes to legislation or regulatory guidance

  • Internal audits or concerns raised
